7-9-20 THOUGHTS

A couple of unnoticeable verses drive my thoughts this morning.  We pray for many things don’t we?  Often we have a problem praying for “THINGS” and “THE PHYSICAL” to the neglecting or even exclusion of the “SPIRITUAL”?  We are all good at praying for our sick, when was the last time you prayed for the SOUL of someone or even a congregation that was having difficulties?  Do we know someone who struggles with depression, someone who is lonely?  Do we know a marriage that is struggling, or a teenager who is questioning their value or maybe even their being a Christian?  Do we pray for the Rescue church of Christ?
I could go on and on couldn’t I?
Here’s the two verses that caught my eye:
1Cor 16:8-9    But I will remain in Ephesus until Pentecost;  9
for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.

My original thought came from ”for a wide door for effective service has opened to me”.  I can hear a certain excitement in Paul even though he notes that adversaries were also present.
Here’s my thought...   “Phil, when’s the last time you prayed for OPPORTUNITY”?
Could I say to the Lord my God...     “I am ready Lord, is there something nearby that you need me to do?”  Or maybe,   “Dear God, I believe “the fields are white unto harvest”, please help me find my reaping place.”

I am convinced that there is opportunity for GROWTH, in this way of thinking.  Someone used the terms RUT, ROT or REVIVAL.  We can grow if we pray beyond the rut and rot!
I love you all this morning!

My Prayer:
Wake us up to the possibilities in our lives Oh God.  We love you and praise you, and desire to serve you in the Church.  We pray, Father,  for the Church in Rescue.  We pray for each soul in these difficult times.  Restore our spirits Lord.  Revive our hearts to see great opportunities.  Help us to think big, Oh God,  and not little, for you are an Awesome God!  We seek your presence eternally.

In the name of precious Jesus                   Amen
